Merchant family of Boston, Mass. Contains items concerning the schooner Amelia (1787); sloop Lucretia (1792); and snow Pacific Trader (1799-1801), commanded by Samuel B. Edes on a sealing and trading expedition to Canton, China with William Dorr as supercargo. Includes correspondence of William, his brothers, father, wife and children, particularly of teacher Elizabeth Dorr with pupils and family. Also, a copy of a 1684 deed from Sachem Oneco to the Mohegan Indians for land in Connecticut to hold in perpetuity; an 1862 manuscript poem by Charles G. Ames; and genealogical notes on the Dorr family.
